Volunteers are the backbone of any organisation, and Little Athletics NSW is no exception. From club coaches and committee members to parent helpers, youth volunteers, and officials, these individuals selflessly dedicate their time and energy to make Little Athletics possible. As we reflect on Volunteer Week, which took place from 15th to 21st May, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who contribute to the success of Little Athletics in NSW.
Little Athletics Australia have launched the National Officiating Program. This program aims to enhance officiating standards across the country, ensuring fair and consistent competitions. NSW was represented by Cheryl Burnett, who was flown down to Melbourne, to officiate as a Field Referee for the Australian Little Athletics Championships in April. Cheryl’s expertise and dedication as a referee have contributed immensely to the success of the event.
We also want to highlight the remarkable achievements of two outstanding volunteers who have made a significant impact, Fiorella Collins, a youth volunteer, has been involved in three Nationals competitions all within her first season of volunteering. Heather Mitchell’s exceptional contributions to athletics in NSW and at National competitions have earned her the honour of becoming one of LAA’s newest Life Members.
As we move forward, we encourage everyone to keep their eyes peeled for upcoming volunteering and officiating opportunities at our upcoming Winter events. These events provide an excellent chance for volunteers to contribute, develop their skills, and make a positive difference in the lives of young athletes. Whether it’s coaching, officiating, or assisting behind the scenes, every volunteer plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment within Little Athletics.
