Empowering Young and Aspiring Officials: An Officiating Journey with Josephine Ng
This webinar will present ways in which young people can get involved in officiating. It will also discuss how experienced officials can positively influence a young official’s development.
It is perfect for officials at all levels. It is also relevant to individuals who have yet to begin the officiating journey.
Josephine’s journey in the sport commenced as a volunteer in 2014. After four years she became an official. She has since become accredited in a range of events and now primarily officiates in the horizontal jumps, on the track, and in the call room. In 2020 Josephine received the Athletics NSW Novice Official of the Year award.
This session will cover:
- Josephine’s officiating journey
- Tips for new officials
- Overcoming barriers to becoming an official
- Encouraging more young people to get involved in officiating
