Officiating Practical Information Sessions – Entry Level

This entry-level free practical session is perfect for anyone wanting to improve their knowledge and skills to be able to assist with centre, club or zone level activities or simply help their own children.

The event groups covered are:

• Track (including Walks, Hurdles, Relays)
• Jumps (Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump)
• Throws (Shot Put, Discus, Javelin)

Who is the session for?

The session is great for parents, school teachers and other interested people who want to know a little more about officiating the sport so that they may help out at Little Athletics centres, athletics clubs or school athletics carnivals.

This course is suitable for:

• People with little or no athletics officiating experience
• Little Athletics age managers
• Little Athletics centre officials
• Teachers

Time Commitment

3 hours attendance face-to-face (No pre-session work or reading required) 

Session Program

The participant group is split into three smaller groups and each group rotates between 3 x 45min sessions throughout the session.

Session Outcomes

At the conclusion of the session the participant will have a better understanding of:

• The rules of competition
• The roles of officials
• Equipment used

as applicable to centre or club-level officiating.

Participant Requirements

• There are no session prerequisites.
• Participants will need to bring clothing suitable for participating in the various events, a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, pen, notepaper, and your own drinks and snacks.

Accreditation

There is no assessment, written or practical, and therefore no formal accreditation is gained for attendance.
