The Kumon State Combined Carnival is usually held on the first full weekend in March each year. Combined Events are the same format as a Heptathlon or Decathlon. Each age group/athlete competes in a set amount of events across two days and accumulate points based on their performance for each event.
Medals are awarded to the top 3 place-getters in all age groups. Athletes in the U15 age group will be vying for selection into the LANSW State Team to compete at the Australian Little Athletics Championships, which will be held in April 2023. CARNIVAL INFORMATION (shows list of events & age groups)
STATE COMBINED CARNIVAL RULES OF COMPETITION
LIST OF COMPETITORS (23/02/23 updated with age group managers and group colours)
This shows the events held for each age group per day and event start time for each event. It also shows the meeting point areas that athletes must report to 20 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of each event. We will not be producing a hard copy of the program. The LIST of COMPETITORS, plus EVENT LIST (above) should be downloaded and printed prior to your arrival at the track OR leave a copy on your smart phone. Remember, no printed programs will be available on the day.
As usual, we required parents to act as Age Group Managers (which is similar to centre age managers) at the State Combined Carnival. Depending on numbers, there will be up to two (2) Age Group Managers per age group and gender (eg. 9 Boys Blue, 9 Girls Pink, 10 Boys Silver etc.). If no parent helper is available for the U13-U17 age groups, we do allow them to look after themselves as long as one of the competing athletes nominates themselves to look after the paperwork. If you are interested in escorting your child and their age group to their events, in the role of Age Group Managers, please read the AGE GROUP MANAGER INFORMATION ON THE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM. Please note that groups without Age Group Managers (Parent helpers) will not be permitted to leave the Meeting Point areas until they have someone to act as Age Group Manager.
**Please note – It may be necessary to move an existing Age Group Manager (and their child) from one group to another group to ensure each group has an Age Group Manager. Will advise all athletes/parents if this is to transpire. If you require more information please contact Cheryl Webb via email at cwebb@lansw.com.au.
