On 8th December 1970 the Little Athletics Association of NSW was formed with just seven centres. These pioneer Little Athletics Centres in NSW were Blacktown, Sutherland, Eastern Suburbs, Denilliquin, Murrumbidge, Narrandera/Leeton, Manly Warringah, Hornsby and Randwick Botany. Today Little Athletics NSW runs at over 180 centres with 30,000+ members every season.
Join us as we travel through the decades, celebrating all things about the history of Little Athletics NSW. We will highlight the present, past and future of the sport and recognize achievements of ALAC teams, athletes, volunteers, coaches, centres and officials! Each month we will pass through a decade starting with the 1970’s in December to the 2020’s and beyond in May.
On the 50th anniversary celebration, Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Shaw said,
“With the challenges that the Little Athletics NSW community has faced during the 2020/2021 Season, it is exciting that we have the opportunity to celebrate 50 years of Little Athletics in NSW.
“It is a great achievement for our sport and a credit to our past and present participants, committee members, coaches, officials, team managers and all the volunteers whose passion and commitment has driven the success of Little Athletics.
“I hope that everyone who has been involved over the past 50 years can take the opportunity to reflect on their time and contribution during this more challenging season and enjoy sharing memories and achievements.”
The 2020/2021 season is an opportunity for all Centres to celebrate the joy the Little Athletics has given to so many and the marvellous sporting achievements that start at local community venues across NSW.
