2020/21 Zone, Region & State Championships

Unfortunately, due to the Public Health Orders, LANSW cancelled Zone and Regional events in September however we now have a path to move forward to ensure State Championship will take place.

Qualification

  • Each Region will have a State Qualifying Meet (SQM) for those in the U9-U12 age groups (see below for dates/venues).
  • To be considered to compete in the SQM, athletes must have achieved the qualifying marks set out by LANSW. See your LANSW Centre for qualifying marks for your Region.
  • Qualifying marks must be achieved this season, under the Little Athletics specifications e.g., weights and heights and achieved when competing in their own age group.
  • Each Centre will submit their qualified athletes for consideration to the LANSW office by 31 December.
  • Athletes will be notified by 15 January of the outcome.
  • A cap of 24 athletes per event.
  • Centres will be eligible to submit teams for relays.
  • All Region SQM will be using the LANSW Rules of Competition 2020/21 Edition.
  • Multi-class (Disability) athletes will not be required to trial at the SQM. Direct entry is required. Please click HERE for entry and further details.

  • Region 5 – Sydney Academy of Sport & Recreation, Narrabeen, 6-7 February
  • Region 6 – Blacktown International SportsPark, Rooty Hill, 20-21 February
  • Region 7 – Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Leumeah, 6-7 February
  • Region 8 – Sylvania Waters Athletics Track, Sylvania, 5-6 February

 

U13-U17 (LANSW Youth State Championships)

  • Direct nominations apply for the U13-U17 via the LANSW Registration Portal.
  • The registration portal for nominations open Monday, 18 January and close on Sunday, 21 February 2021. Return here on Monday, 18 January for the link to the online nomination form.
  • Standards must be achieved this season at any Little Athletics competition. If the standard is achieved in an event outside of a Little Athletics competition, then the standard must be achieved under the Little Athletics specifications e.g., weights and heights and achieved when competing in their own age group.
  • Athletes can nominate for up to 4 events only.
  • Top 2 from each Region then next top 8 from across the state will be selected to compete (if a Region does not have an athlete achieve the qualifying standard the next top athlete will fulfil the position).
  • A cap of 24 athletes per event.
  • There will be NO relays for the U13-U17 age groups.
  • Multi-class (Disability) athletes will be required to do a direct entry. Please click HERE for entry and further details.

Kumon State Combined Carnival

The Kumon State Combined Carnival is held on the first weekend in March each year, at a regional venue. At this carnival, athletes participate in ALL of the events on offer for their age group and points are allocated for performances recorded in each event, based on the Little Athletics NSW Multi-Event Pointscore tables/system. The points across all events conducted for each age group are added together to determine final results. Entries are ONLINE only. There are no refunds following initial close of entry.

State Team – Australian Little Athletics Championships

The ALAC (Australian Little Athletics Championships) is a two-day event held every year in April.  The event is hosted by each State or Territory on a rotational basis. All States and Territories, with the exception of the Northern Territory, are represented at the championships.

State Cross Country & Road Walk Championships

The State Cross-Country & Road Walks were, up until 2015, held on the first Sunday in July each year. In 2016 Little Athletics NSW and Athletics NSW combined and held two separate events Athletes in the U7 through to U17 age groups are eligible to enter the State Cross-Country. Athletes in the U9 through to U17 age groups are eligible to enter the State Road Walks. Entries are made online. There is no refund after the initial close of entry.

State Relay Championships

The State Relay Championships is the largest event on the LANSW calendar in terms of number of competitors. As the name suggests the Championships are comprised entirely of relay events. The State Relays are held in November each year. Juniors (U8 to U11), compete on the Saturday and Seniors (U12 to U17) compete on the Sunday. The Championships are usually held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.
