Over the past weekend over 90 athletes represented NSW at the 2023 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships in Melbourne. Across both the track and field events NSW athletes took home over 80 medals and 2 Australian Best Performances!
The 2023 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships consisted of 3 different competitions, the Australian Teams Championship (U13 and U13/14 Multi Class athletes), Australian Junior Athletics Championship (U14 and U15/16 Multi Class athletes) and the Australian Combined Events Championship (U15).
NSW reclaimed the Trevor Billingham Trophy (ATC) after beating second place Victoria by 28 points, took home the inaugural Champions Shield (AJAC), and only narrowly missed the Alan Triscott Trophy. Our combined event athletes had a strong weekend competing in a heptathlon placing 3rd overall with Piper Todd (Bankstown) taking home the bronze in individual female points.
Harry Keats (Bowral) and Sophie Polkinghorne (North Rocks Carlingford) both broke Australian records in the U13 Boys 800m and the U13 Girls 1500m walks respectively.
U14 Walkers Matilda Webb (Winston Hill), Jessica Loring (Parramatta City), and Maisie Mitchell (Kurrajong Bilpin) took home the trifecta in the first event of the weekend.
Team Captain Ashton Taeiloa (Campbelltown) threw a massive 48.63m in the U13 Boys Discus to take home the gold.
Our Multi Class athletes also had a successful weekend with Layla Sharp (-) taking home the gold in the U15-16 Girls Multi Class 800m with 91.84%.
