The State Relay Championships is the largest event on the LANSW calendar in terms of number of competitors. As the name suggests the championships are comprised entirely of relay events. The State Relays are held in November each year. Junior athletes (U8 to U11) compete on the Saturday and Senior athletes (U12 to U17) compete on the Sunday. In 2022 the State Relays was the biggest ever with 1,415 teams entered from over a third of centres with NSW.

PLEASE NOTE: SPIKES AND STARTING BLOCKS AT SOPAC
All athletes in the U11+ age groups who are wearing spikes and are the first runner of the relay in laned events, must use starting blocks. This is a Condition of Entry for SOPAC.
In applying this rule LANSW have YouTube clips that demonstrate “how to set up blocks” in simple steps.
If you would like to try out blocks prior the Championships, SOPAC have training nights where blocks can be accessed. Please check their website for training times.
